Macao’s Chief Executive takes part in Belt and Road Forum

MI67-P5a

The Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, led a Macao delegation to Beijing on 14 May 2017 for the Belt and Road Forum for International Co-operation. The Chief Executive stated that the government would seek to optimise Macao’s top-level policy work so as to integrate further with the country’s development regarding the “Belt and Road” initiative. He said the Government had been working diligently to link the “Belt and Road” initiative with the city’s Five-Year Development Plan, and with the proposal for a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as with the Central Government’s supportive policies for Macao. Mainland China will contribute an additional RMB100 billion (US$14.5 billion) to the Silk Road Fund, the nation’s President, Xi Jinping, announced at the Forum. Delegates from over 130 countries and representatives of major international organisations took part in this year’s inaugural Belt and Road Forum. The next Forum is scheduled for 2019.
