A low-carbon and hydrogen metallurgy laboratory set up jointly by the Central University of Southern China and Vale do Brasil went into operation on April 8 in Changsha, Hunan Province, central China.

With a total area of 3,000 square meters, the laboratory is a five-storey building with scientific instruments and equipment.

The laboratory is now open to all researchers from the mining and steel industries, and its working committee is made up of 12 technical experts from the Central South University of China and Vale.
