In the wake of the surge in Chinese vehicles on the Brazilian market, imports of auto parts from the Asian country have also accelerated at the start of the year.

A balance sheet published by Sindipeças shows purchases of almost US$ 560 million from China in the first two months of the year, an increase of 18.3% on the R$ 472.8 million in the same period in 2023.

China accounts for 18.3% of all auto parts shipped to Brazil, followed by the United States, with 11%. In this case, the year-on-year increase was just 2%, from US$ 324.5 million to US$ 331 million.

While imports grew, exports slowed down at the start of 2024. Sales to other countries totaled US$ 1.2 billion in the first two months of the year, down 13.3% compared to the same period in 2023 (US$ 1.4 billion).
