Pleasure boats and private aircraft in Angola will now be taxed under the Motor Vehicle Tax, which will replace the current circulation tax under a draft bill delivered to parliament, the Angolan press reported.

The draft bill stipulates that transport tax will no longer be charged from the end of the year to be replaced on 1 January 2020 by the Motor Vehicle Tax.

The Angolan government has proposed to keep the amounts to be charged for tricycles, motorcycles and motor vehicles unchanged, and now include pleasure boats and private aircraft, hitherto exempt from taxation.

Newspaper Expansão, which had access to the text of the bill, wrote that the payment of the Motor Vehicle Tax is now overseen by the General Tax Administration, National Institute of Civil Aviation, Port Maritime Institute and the National Directorate of Traffic and Transit.

The newspaper also wrote that there are 50 private aircraft in Angola, according to figures from the National Institute of Civil Aviation.
