Attracting investment and the promotion of tourism in Angola was the subject of a protocol of cooperation signed on Tuesday in Luanda by the Ministry of Tourism and the World Tourism Forum, the Angolan press reported.

The document was signed by the Angolan Minister of Tourism, Angela Bragança and the president of the World Forum, Bulut Bagci, on the sidelines of a meeting on “Presidential Golf Day – Angola 2019,” an event held ahead of the World Tourism Forum that Angola will host from 23 to 25 May.

Bragança, quoted by Angolan state news agency Angop, said the document was a partnership agreement with the organisation that owns the brand, which sets out the responsibilities of the World Tourism Forum and the Ministry of Tourism for a successful organisation of the event.

Ahead of the forum, the Presidential Golf Day will be held on 17 and 18 May in Luanda, to recognise efforts to attract multi-sector investments to the economy and to promote business opportunities, with a focus on boosting tourism.

The minister also said that with this annual event, that golf tourism could be a very promising market niche, in which Angola has advantages due to the diversity of its climate, landscapes, geography and natural beauty.

Bragança said that the World Tourism Forum will be important to promote the country and its potential, taking into account that the dynamism of the tourism segment is one of the bases for diversification of the economy included in the priorities of the 2018-2022 National Development Plan.

The president of the World Forum said the institution would invest US$1 billion in Angola, and priority areas will be announced during the World Tourism Forum.
