Macao entrepreneur Delegation Attend the 2nd China International Import Expo in Shanghai

Macao entrepreneur delegation

Led by Mr. Leong Vai Tac, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region, IPIM organised over a hundred Macao entrepreneurs to join the 2nd China International Import Expo(CIIE) in Shanghai from 4 to 7 November.

Carrying on the positive influence of partaking in the 1st China International Import Expo in 2018, IPIM once again organised corporate delegates to join the event in 2019. Delegates were from various industries, including trade, finance, convention and exhibition, e-commerce, technology, food product, hotel and tourism, dining, manufacture and professional services.

IPIM set up the Macao and Lusophone Food and Beverage Pavilion and the Lusophone Professional Services Pavilion respectively at the Food & Agricultural Products Exhibition Area and the Trade in Services Area. A total of 42 Macao companies engaging in Made-in-Macao Products, agency of Portuguese-speaking Countries’ food and beverage, accounting and translation services were organised to join the exhibition. Food and drink tasting activities and business matching also took place during the event.

IPIM, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) jointly hosted the Macao Investment Cooperation Forum – Introduction to the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries on 6 November. The forum was joined by more than 160 enterprises from Portuguese-speaking Countries, Shanghai and Macao. Four co-operation projects were signed at the event, involving financial services for agricultural projects in Portuguese-speaking Countries, coffee procurement and trade services.

During the four-day event, in addition to visiting the venue of CIIE and partaking in the sub-forum “WTO Reform and Free Trade Agreements: Options and Prospects” and the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Economic Co-operation Promotion and Development Seminar”, the delegation also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Portuguese-speaking Countries Wine and Food Exhibition and Sales Centre, which was launched by Macao’s commercial associations, and visited the Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries Commodity Hall and the Zhangjiang Science City in Shanghai.
