The 2019 Mainland-Macao Business Associations Joint Conference held in Macao

The 2019 Mainland-Macao Business Associations Joint Conference was held in Macao on 14 April. Dozens of representatives of trade promotion organisations and chambers of commerce joined the conference. Discussion was made on maximising Macao’s influence as China-PSC platform, deepening economic exchange between both places, and jointly participating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Gao Yan and Acting President of IPIM Irene Va Kuan Lau delivered speeches at the conference. Attending leaders and representatives of trade promotion organisations and chambers of commerce actively joined the discussion and offered suggestions. Aside from recognizing the function and result of the conference, attendees also pointed out that Macao should better utilise its unique strengths to grow in line with the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the development of the “One Centre, One Platform, One Base”, in order to create the next breakthrough in the Greater Bay Area.

Attendees included Executive Directors of IPIM Sam Lei and Agostinho Vong Vai Lon, President Board of Directors of the Macao Chamber of Commerce Kou Hoi In, President of the Industrial Association of Macau Chui Yuk Lum, President of the Macau Importers & Exporters Association and the Macau Shipper’s Association Tsui Wai Kwan, and Chairman of the Macau Textile Merchants Association Wong Wa Keong.
