The third plenary meeting of the Development Committee for the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries

The third plenary meeting of the Committee for Development of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries was held on 11 October. The meeting was chaired by Mr Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR and Chairman of the Committee. Mr Chui recognised that the synergy and coordination among the departments had been strengthened while the development of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries was jointly promoted in an orderly manner, thanks to the establishment of the Committee, which enabled the Macao SAR government to actively carry out its work under the relevant working mechanism.

According to the Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao SAR and Vice Chairman of the Committee Leong Vai Tac, in the future, the Committee will continue to pragmatically carry out a series of tasks, including the implementation of various measures and the Strategic Plan announced by the State in the 5th Ministerial Conference in support of Macao’s construction of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, and promote the co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in production capacity, investment and trade promotion, human resources, cultural exchanges, as well as provincial and municipal co-operation.

The meeting reviewed the work and progress of the Committee in promoting the construction of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries from 2017 onwards, as well as future work arrangements and prospects.

It was announced at the meeting that the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), originally scheduled for 2019, will be held 2020.
