IPIM Organises Workshop and Seminar to Enhance the Level of Local Convention and Exhibition Industry

IPIM organised the “Macao MICE Industry Workshop – Best Practice in Site Inspections and Developing Products for the MICE Industry” on 30 January. In the afternoon of this day, the “Seminar with Public Security Police Force of Macao (CPSP) – Information Session for Convention and Exhibition Industry” was held in collaboration with the CPSP. Both events attracted over 50 representatives of the hotel industry, convention and exhibition centres, professional event organisers, destination management companies and MICE associations.

The workshop was moderated by Mr. Mike Williams, IPIM’s consultant in the convention and exhibition area. Mr. Williams has over twenty years of experience in the marketing and management of international MICE events. The workshop focused on the techniques and matters to keep in mind when conducting venue site inspection for events and also on how to develop MICE products targeting different markets to meet the latest development trends of the sector, so as to attract and introduce a greater number of nternational events to Macao. Furthermore, IPIM had previously collected opinions from the local convention and exhibition industry regarding the organisation of MICE-related trainings in Macao. Relevant results were announced during the events. After analysing the survey results, training courses that actually meet the needs of the MICE industry will be provided to help enhance the professional standards.

At the Information Session for Convention and Exhibition Industry, representatives of the Immigration Department and Operations Department of the Macao Public Security Police Force (CPSP) briefed the participants about entry visas, entry-exit permits and other immigration-related matters to which attention must be paid. CPSP representatives also explained the measures adopted by the Police Force that support the local MICE industry.

Guests attending the above events included IPIM’s Executive Director Irene Va Kuan Lau; Superintendent Mui Kin Meng and Deputy Superintendent Ho Ka Kit, respectively from the CPSP Immigration Department and Operations Department.
