Angola’s telecommunications operators will guarantee, from 27 March, the supply of minimum postal, voice, message, Internet and weather services as part of a contingency plan put in place by the government due to the Covid-19 pandemic, said the Ministry for Telecommunications and Information Technologies.

The official statement stipulates that minimum free services are guaranteed to citizens and public and private entities, based on an agreement reached with operators and public service providers in the sector.

Thus, citizens can call, at no cost, all the emergency numbers (111, 112, 113, 116, 119, 145 and 146), and the National Institute for Consumer Defence, hospitals and selected health centres.

They will also be given 45 minutes of free voice calls (mobile) and 30 free SMS messages within the fixed line network of Angola Telecom, TV Cabo and MSTelecom.

For subscribers of satellite television services, there will be freely available broadcasts of the TPA1 and TPA2 television channels on the ZAP and Multichoice platforms.

As for the Internet service, access will be provided to public electronic services, to the Ministry of Health website and the government websites, as well as 200 megabytes of data.
