Angola’s Beverage Distribution Company (Sodiba) is exporting Luandina brand beer to some countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, including São Tomé and Príncipe, China and Portugal, according to the company’s chief executive.

Luís Correia said that the company, which has been operating in Angola since 2016, started exporting beer to some selected countries in 2018, with 15 containers sent to China last year.

“This year, 17 containers have been shipped but the goal is to reach 10 containers per month or 120 per year, for China alone,” the Angolan news agency reported.

Correia also said that, in addition to promotional actions costing US$250,000, the process of setting up sales teams to place the product at points of sale in three selected Chinese provinces is underway.

In addition to China, Sodiba, with a production of 16,500 33 centilitre bottles per hour on three filling lines, is also present in Portugal, to which it sends two containers of beer per month.

The company exports one container to São Tomé and Príncipe on a monthly basis and is negotiating the export to South Africa of Portuguese beer Sagres, produced in Angola under license from the Sociedade Central de Cervejas (Centralcer).

Sodiba makes US$150,000 a month from beer exports, with the executive committee aiming to reach the end of 2019 with a revenue of US$300,000.
