Angola’s National Statistics Institute (INE) has funding of US$24.9 million to carry out an Agriculture and Fisheries Census (RAPP) for 2018/2019 across the country, the director-general of INE, Camilo Ceita announced in Ondjiva, Cunene province.

The Census is financed by the World Bank and, in the first phase, covers the provinces of Cunene, Kwanza Sul, Benguela, Uíge and Moxico, and will involve data collection operations between March and May.

In another phase, from July to December 2019, the general census will take place, covering 25,346 villages in the country, in a sample of 80,000 households and companies from the agricultural and fishing sectors.

The INE’s director-general, quoted by state newspaper Jornal de Angola, said RAPP 2018/2019 was a comprehensive statistical operation at a national level, which aims to provide the government and stakeholders with up-to-date statistical information on agriculture, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture.

RAPP 2018/2019 was approved by Presidential Decree No. 189/18, of 7 August, which sets out standards for its application, and Decree No. 194/18, of 20 August.
