IPIM takes representatives of Macao’s MICE sector to “2019 Xiamen International MICE Week”

The “2019 Xiamen International MICE Week” was held from 11 to 15 November in the port city of Xiamen. The event was organised by the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government and co-organised by 20 associations, including: the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA); the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE); the Asian Federation of Exhibition & Convention Associations (AFECA); the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE); the convention associations of the countries of the BRICS bloc, and of countries with emerging markets; the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs; the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC); IPIM and the Taiwan Exhibition and Convention Association.

IPIM co-ordinated the participation of a delegation of representatives from Macao’s meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector in this year’s edition of the “Xiamen International MICE Week”. That was in order to promote the advantages of Macao’s MICE industry, as well as to strengthen exchanges and co-operation between the city’s industry and the respective MICE industries of other regions.

Mr Sam Lei, Executive Director of IPIM was an invited guest for the “Interactive Dialogue” session, in a panel with representatives from respectively: the China Convention / Exhibition / Event Society (CCEES); ICCA; the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS); and HKTDC. Mr Lei talked about Macao’s experience in the development of the city’s MICE industry, discussing the topic the “International Development Path of Emerging MICE Cities”.

During the “2019 Xiamen International MICE Week”, representatives of Macao’s MICE industry participated in the “Xiamen International MICE Summit” and the “Xiamen International MICE Week Projects Matching Meeting”. The two activities gathered prominent professionals from various MICE jurisdictions, who shared their insights with the participants in order to help the latter learn about fresh co-operation opportunities in the sector.
