IPIM as entity committed to promoting macao as mice destination-Honoured with ‘Best Marketing-Destination’ Award

Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau, President of IPIM receives the “Best Marketing-Destination” Award

IPIM was presented with the “Best Marketing-Destination” Award at the MICE China Forum & Awards Ceremony, held on 18 October. Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau, President of IPIM received it on behalf of the Institute. The award followed several other recent accolades for IPIM and Macao, including “Best Convention & Exhibition Bureau” at the 2018 TTG Travel Awards Ceremony, and “Best MICE City – Asia” at the “M&C Asia Stella Awards 2019”, held in Singapore in August. All the awards have helped to raise Macao’s international profile in this sector.

The MICE China Awards is hosted by Arch International Media Limited, a trade media company in the field of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE). The awards event is supported by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). The awards identify and reward outstanding MICE destinations, hotel venues and MICE-related facilities, based on their respective marketing and sales performance in the previous year. The event organisers aim to encourage the development of the MICE sector in China. The MICE China Forum & Awards Ceremony additionally serves as a networking platform for MICE professionals in the country.

This year’s edition brought together representatives from several renowned Chinese MICE companies, as well as professional conference organisers and conference-hotel executives. The MICE China Forum was hosted concurrently with the award ceremony, offering a platform for participants to discuss the impact of ongoing changes in China’s economy on the sector, and the sector’s development trends.

The “Best Marketing-Destination” Award honours organisations that have successfully promoted a particular MICE destination in the China market, namely via creative marketing and promotion activities. Other recipients of this award at this year’s edition were: the GCB German Convention Bureau; the Hamburg Convention Bureau; the Singapore Tourism Board; and the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau.
