32nd Asian Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF) CEO Meeting

The 32nd Asian Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF) CEO Meeting was held in Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar from 11 to 13 September. This year’s edition was hosted by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI). The event was attended by representatives from trade promotion organisations (TPOs) from a total of 17 places in the Asia-Pacific region, namely Mainland China, Mongolia, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan and Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. Attendees included Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau, President of IPIM; Ms Sophia Chong, Assistant Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC); and Mr Liu Zhengfu, Deputy Director of the Department of Development Research of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

The 32nd ATPF CEO Meeting was chaired by Mr Amartuvshin Otgondavaa, President of MNCCI. The meeting’s theme was “The Role of TPOs in Supporting SMEs to Internationalize and Connect to Value Chain”. During the event, representatives from several trade promotion organisations discussed their respective work experience supporting development of business in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

During the meeting, IPIM’s President Mrs Lau delivered a speech, providing the audience an introduction on the development in recent years of Macao’s meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry. She also announced Macao had been chosen to host the next ATPF CEO Meeting and invited all ATPF members to take part in the event in 2020. The meeting will showcase Macao’s strength in hosting this type of international event, help deepen friendly relations between ATPF members, and promote regional trade co-operation, said Mrs Lau.
