2018 Forum on China- Economic Development Prospect and Macao Platform Establishment and Signing Ceremony

With a view to promote Macao as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSC), President of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Co-operation Ministry of Commerce Gu Xueming, IPIM’s Executive Director Gloria Ung and President of Board of Directors of Macao Chamber of Commerce Kou Hoi In, as representatives of industry, government and researcher, signed the Framework Agreement on Strategic Co-operation for Jointly Promoting the China-PSC Economy and Macao Platform Development on 22 January. The three parties shall, upholding the principle of mutual benefit and win-win co-operation, build up the strategic partnership to foster the establishment of China-PSC International Economic Collaborative Academy, and initiate specific researches and conduct forums in relation to the development needs of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, Pilot Free Trade Zone, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, free trade port and other national development strategies as well as the establishment of Macao’s China-PSC platform.

The Signing Ceremony was followed by the 2018 Forum on China-PSC Economic Development Prospect and Macao Platform Establishment. Guests participating in the event included Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department and Head of the Commercial Office of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Chen Xing, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) Echo Chan Keng Hong, Director of Association of Chinese Capital Employment Agencies in Macao Lio Kin Seng, Vice-President of Board of Directors and Director of Strategy Research Committee of Macao Chamber of Commerce and Frederico Ma, Secretary-general of Macao Chamber of Commerce Au Weng Chi, as well as other leaders and experts. The Participants took opportunity of this event to have in-depth discussion on how Macao could take advantage of the country’s policy to expedite the establishment of the China-PSC platform.
