The Spring Banquet of Guangdong Province 2018 held in Macao

A delegation led by the Governor of Guangdong Province Ma Xingrui attended the Spring Banquet of Guangdong Province 2018 in Macao on 28 March. Entrusted by the Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC Li Xi and on behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government, Governor Ma Xingrui expressed a warm welcome to the guests of the spring banquet and extended warm regards and best wishes to the citizens of Macao.

He said that the Central Government has high expectations on and attaches great importance to Guangdong-Macao co-operation. There are close liaisons and collaborations between the government departments, commercial and industrial sectors as well as business associations of the two places. Guangdong has been constantly improving the business environment, with a view to provide a better investment environment for Macao-funded enterprises in Guangdong province. With the concern and support from the Central Government, the Outline of the Development Plan of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be promulgated soon.

Guangdong province will remember the advice of President Xi Jinping and reinforces its political responsibilities and the commitment to fulfil its mission, works with different sectors in Macao and focuses on overcoming institutional obstacles under “One Country, Two Systems” and the “Three Customs Territories”, further strengthens co-operation and communications, enhances inter-connection of cross-border infrastructure facilities, improves the co-operation mechanism under the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, and continues to promote the collaboration between the Hengqin New Area, Zhongshan’s Guangdong-Macao Comprehensive Co-operation Demonstration Zone and the Jiangmen’s Greater Guanghai Bay Economic Zone, as well as further enhance co-operation in youth affairs, education, medical, human resources, social security and ecology, aiming at building a quality living area which is good for living, business activities and tourism.

In his speech, the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Leong Vai Tac said that Guangdong-Macao co-operation is of utmost importance in strengthening Macao’s collaboration with the Mainland and in its integration with the national development. Macao will continue to work closely with Guangdong province and fully utilise the advantages brought about by “One Country, Two Systems” and the unique role entrusted by the Central Government as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and also seizes the oppportunties brought by the new era of development. Macao will work in partnership with Guangdong province in participating in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It aims to promote moderate economic diversification and create more development potential for the Macao community.

The event was attended by guests including the Honorary President of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Co-operation Huang Huahua, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Ouyang Weimin, Vice-Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial CPPCC Committee Lin Xiong and the Honorary Advisor of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Co-operation Tang Hao.
