MI68-P4b

Macao Chief Executive Chui Sai On and Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and municipal leaders in Shanghai reviewed their co-operative efforts and ways to strengthen their ties when Mr Chui visited Shanghai on 21 and 22 June 2017. The Chief Executive had gained a better understanding of the urban planning methods Shanghai uses.

In a meeting with the Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee Han Zheng and Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong, Mr Chui reviewed co‑operation between Shanghai and Macao and agreed that the two sides have established a solid foundation in collaboration, including the signing of a memorandum in 2012 on strengthening financial co-operation between Shanghai and Macao, which facilitates the participation of Macao in projects to do with the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. He hoped that on the foundation of previous collaborations, networking and co‑operation in the fields of finance, tourism, training of civil servants and physical education will be further†enhanced.

Secretary Han said Shanghai and Macao had forged close links. He said Shanghai would keep supporting the development of Macao, expanding the scope of co-operation between the cities for their mutual†benefit.
