Agriculture, energy and health were the main areas of debate at the seventh edition of the Brazil-China Dialogues for Technology and Development, which took place between April 8 and 11 at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), as part of the 5th National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation and as a side event of the G20 Engagement Groups – T20 (Think Tanks) and S20 (Science). The meeting discussed trends and directions for innovation policies and disruptive technologies, their impacts and opportunities for the development of countries.

Under the coordination and mediation of Ana Célia Castro, director of the Brazilian School of Advanced Studies at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the debates between Brazilian and Chinese scientists mapped out strategic issues in which the countries need to move forward, divided into three main themes: technological and social frontiers in agriculture; frontiers in medicine and public policy challenges; energy transition and sustainability: horizons and alternatives.

At the end of the three days of debate, it was recommended that an ecosystem be created for prospecting the future, in order to define plans, programs and projects linked to social, political, environmental and economic issues and to promote fair, inclusive and sustainable development.
