The mayor of Cáceres, Eliene Liberato Dias, celebrated the authorization for the Caceres Export Processing Zone (EPZ) to begin operating and said that four Chinese companies have already signaled their interest in setting up in the municipality. It has been 30 years of waiting for the structure to receive authorization to start operating.

On March 21, the Government of Mato Grosso received authorization from the Federal Revenue Service to begin operations at the EPZ, with construction resuming in 2020 and concluding in December 2023. The Cáceres EPZ is the third in Brazil and covers an area of 240 hectares.

According to Eliene, a delegation of Chinese companies – from the e-commerce, food and technology sectors – visited the city last week to see the structure that is available at the site.
