Last year, Brazil, the global leader in pulp exports, achieved a remarkable feat by recording the highest volume of pulp exports to China. Data provided by the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) reveals that 49% of the total of 18 million tons of pulp exported by Brazil went to China, resulting in revenues of US$ 3.8 billion.

In addition to China, a significant slice of the pulp exported by Brazil – 24% – was destined for Europe, while 14% went to North America. This performance consolidates Brazil’s position as one of the world’s main suppliers of this fundamental resource.

Industry leaders, such as Ibá CEO Paulo Hartung, recognize the challenges inherent in maintaining and expanding markets, as well as the ongoing drive to increase the productivity of trees grown in the country, according to a report in Valor.
