Brazil and China signed a bilateral cooperation agreement on January 19th that extends the validity of visas for the passports of citizens of both countries to ten years. The new validity period is double the current one, five years.

The act was signed during an official visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, at the Itamaraty Palace. “The initiative will facilitate travel, encourage the promotion of direct contacts between our business communities and boost tourism between our two countries,” said minister Mauro Vieira.

The two-day visit marks the beginning of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Brazilian diplomatic relations, to be officially celebrated on August 15th.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China said that a series of political, academic and cultural meetings between Brazil and China should take place in 2024 as part of the 50th anniversary of Brazil-China relations.
