[2020-09-10] Portuguese make over 40 patent applications in China in 2019

World Intellectual Property Organization data indicate that Portuguese applicants asked the Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration to grant them 40 patents last year, Jornal Económico reports.

The Portuguese newspaper, quoting a recent report from consulting firm Inventa International, says the data show coffee retailer Novadelta – Comércio e Indústria de Cafés Lda made 18 of the applications, the University of Porto made seven and the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory made three.

In 2018 the laboratory, which is in based in northwestern Portugal’s Braga, and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute agreed to set up a research centre in the Chinese region.
