Angolan airline TAAG – Linhas Aéreas de Angola has been certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to fly unconditionally until 22 May 2021, the company said in a statement issued on Tuesday in Luanda.

The statement said that the airline’s audit had taken five days and covered all the airline’s operating aircraft, and was conducted by ACS – Aviation Solutions, a specialised company accredited by IATA.

“This audit is carried out bi-annually, within a time-frame set by IATA, which normally assesses the level of application of the standards and practices recommended by it,” said the statement, noting that the current one had two phases.

The first phase took place from 28 January to 5 February and there were some non-conformities which had to be corrected for a second inspection carried out in May and consequent approval.

The Angolan airline was withdrawn from the European Union’s “black list” last April, after operating with restrictions since November 2008, when it was only permitted to fly in European airspace with its Boeing B737-700, Boeing B777-200 and Boeing B777-300 aircraft.
