The São Tomé and Príncipe government has started releasing macroeconomic data in line with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) criteria through the Improved Data Dissemination System, the IMF said in a statement.
The statement also said that the dissemination of data, which is being carried out by the Ministry of Planning and Finance and the Blue Economy, aims to “serve as a central vehicle for macroeconomic data on national accounts, government financial operations and debt, the monetary sector and financial system and the balance of payments.”
“The publication of key macroeconomic data through this system will give national policymakers and international and national actors, including investors and rating agencies, easy access to information that the IMF board has identified as critical to following economic conditions and policies,” the statement said.
