[2019-06-28] Capital Airlines to resume the connection between China and Portugal in August

Capital Airlines will resume in late August the direct connection between the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou and Lisbon, with a stopover in Beijing, which had been suspended in October 2018.

The airline had announced in August 2018 that it would suspend between 15 October and March 2019 the direct flight between China and Portugal, which had marked its first anniversary the previous July.

A company source told Lusa news agency that the flight has already been authorised by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which in October 2018 indicated that it had received the respective application from Capital Airlines, a company of the NHA group.

The application submitted to the CAAC specified that the route would be covered by two flights per week using Airbus A330 aircraft with a maximum capacity of 440 passengers when only one class is offered.

During the first year of its flights to Portugal, Capital Airlines transported more than 80,000 passengers, according to company figures. The flight occupation average was 80 percent in the weakest months and over 95 percent during the high season.
