Cabo Verde’s hotel establishments received more than 765,000 guests in 2018, which led to more than 4.9 million overnight stays, with growth of 6.8% and 7.4%, respectively, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The United Kingdom was the main source of tourists, and they were also the ones that remained longest in the archipelago, with an average stay of 8.3 nights.
The island of Sal was the most sought after by tourists, accounting for about 49.5% of hotel accommodation.
The main tourist markets were, after the United Kingdom, with 22.7% of total entries, Germany (11.8%), France (10.1%), the Netherlands (10%) and Portugal (9.3%).
In overnight stays, after the United Kingdom with 30.2% came Germany (12.1%), the Netherlands (11.2%), France (8.1%) and Portugal (7.4%).
