[2020/11/19] Joining Hands to Overcome the Challenges during the Post-COVID-19 Era The 11th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) Takes Place in December

The 11th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF), co-organised by the China International Contractors Association (CHICA) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), will be held both online and offline at The Venetian of Macao SAR on 2 and 3 December. Political, business and academic elites in the infrastructure sector from all around the world are invited to attend the event. With the theme "Responding to Challenges and Promoting Global Infrastructure Development", the upcoming IIICF will focus on the opportunities and challenges of international infrastructure co-operation.

A number of thematic and parallel sessions will be held during the 11th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum, focusing on the development of international infrastructure during the post COVID-19 era, including innovation in investment and financing models for international engineering projects, innovation in science and technology industry, cultivation of innovative talents, China-EU co-operation to promote infrastructure development in Africa, as well as the role of Macao’s construction industry in the development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area. The 6th China-Latin America Infrastructure Co-operation Forum will be held concurrently by the Department of Commerce of China, in order to enhance the mutually-beneficial infrastructure collaboration between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries. The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index (2020) and the Annual Report on the Development of Belt and Road Infrastructure (2020) will be published to offer scientific reference to facilitate all parties’ deep participation in infrastructure investment and construction under the "Belt and Road" initiative. In addition, the 11th IIICF will also organise a variety of business activities like exhibitions, project promotion sessions, protocol signing ceremony, business matching sessions, to build a platform to promote exchanges and co-operation between participants.

At the same time, the 11th IIICF will bring in representative elements of Macao. A total of 13 associations will continue to be co-organisers from Macao, promoting the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and deepening Macao’s role as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries. Officials from Mainland China and foreign officials in China, over 400 international financial institutions, multi-lateral development agencies, well-known engineering contractors, engineering equipment and industrial chain enterprises are also invited to this grand event.

Since relocating from Beijing to Macao in 2012, the IIICF has been staged in Macao for 8 consecutive years. Last year, the 10th IIICF effectively organised twelve thematic forums, thematic events and parallel forums, and signed eleven co-operation agreements in the various fields including transportation, residential building construction, power engineering and mining.
