[2019/07/24] 2019 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair to Kick Off on July 26

2019 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (2019GMBPF), jointly hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, will be held at the Venetian Macao from July 26 to 28. The 2019GMBPF continues to integrate trade, cultural exchanges, shopping, leisure and entertainment to offer a "summer carnival" to exhibitors and participants. This year, the "Power of Greater Bay Area Youth – Young Entrepreneurs Area" and the "Seniors Exhibition Area" are introduced, and the "Thailand Pavilion" is added in the “Belt and Road Exhibition Zone” to enrich the 2019GMBPF and make it a rewarding experience for all participants.

Guangdong maintains close contact with Macao. Since the release of the Outline Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta, the Overall Development Plan of Hengqin, the Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, and the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, the co-operation between the two regions has experienced continued improvement. After the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the release of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Greater Bay Area are now facing great opportunities for development, and the positions of the cities in the region have become all the more clear-cut. The GMBPF, jointly organised by the governments of Guangdong and Macao, is a vital project to promote economic and trade exchanges between the two regions. This will be the 11th time it has been held. Thanks to its ever-rising clout and fruitful results, the GMBPF has evolved into a grand annual event for the co-operation of the convention and exhibition industry in the two regions, and a must-visit annual event for citizens and visitors during the summer holiday.

This year the exhibition area covers 9,000 square metres, whereon more than 400 booths are set up, a greater number compared to that of the last year. The 175 booths in the Guangdong exhibition area will be displaying branded products including food, daily necessities, household appliances and gifts from all over the province. Many products are credited with "China Branded Products", "China Famous Brand" and "Guangdong Branded Products”. The 102 exhibition booths in the Macao exhibition area are largely "Made in Macao", "Macao Brand", "Designed in Macao" products and other cultural and creative products from Macao, as well as products from Portuguese-speaking countries franchised by Macao businesses, so as to show the characteristics of Macanese brands to the general public.

New highlights lend charm to the 2019GMBPF

The “Belt and Road Exhibition Zone” has nearly one hundred booths, including the newly added "Thailand Pavilion" and those set up last year, including the “Indonesia Pavilion”, “Myanmar Pavilion” and “Malaysia Pavilion”. A large number of local commodities, such as food, daily necessities and handicrafts, will be available to promote the economic and trade co-operation among Guangdong, Macao and Southeast Asia. This year, the "Power of Greater Bay Area Youth-Young Entrepreneurs Area" and the "Seniors Exhibition Area" are added. The "Power of Greater Bay Area Youth – Young Entrepreneurs Area" will be divided into "Youth Entrepreneurship Corridor" and "Science Innovation Corridor", and there will also be a "Youth Entrepreneurship Workshop" where youth start-ups from the Greater Bay Area will be hosting the workshops. This exhibition area does not only heed the call for promoting the construction of an international innovation and technology hub as proposed in the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but also provides a platform for the youth to exchange ideas and improves the public’s understanding of youth entrepreneurship and their support for the products in the Greater Bay Area. During the 2019GMBPF, the "Roundtable Conference of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Commercial Organizations" will be held. The commercial organisations in the eleven cities of Greater Bay Area will discuss how to make full use of the business advantages of Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries to tap business opportunities after the release of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In line with the signing of the Agreement on Promoting Foreign Trade and Development via MICE Industry between the Macao Trade Promotion Institute and Congjiang County, Guizhou Province, the Exhibition Area of Congjiang County of Guizhou Province remains this year. Thus, the 2019GMBPF continues to provide a platform for the poverty alleviation of Congjiang County, as well as to promote the investment environment and local specialties of the county. The 2019GMBPF continues to set up "check-in" spots like the Starry Sky Hall, VR interactive games, shopping lucky draw and dance performances. In order to embody the concept of the "integration of the Greater Bay Area", the highlighted "Celebrity Cooking Live Show" will collaborate with the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Junior Chefs’ Culinary Competition" in the eleven cities in the Greater Bay Area, so that the junior chefs can show and exchange culinary skills.

In order to extend the influence of the 2019GMBPF, the organisers will continue arranging guided tours for exhibitors to visit local neighborhoods in the Northern District, so as to boost the community economy and benefit local small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as to deepen participants’ understanding of Macao’s investment environment and explore local business opportunities. The 2019GMBPF will continue to promote the use of electronic payment, including "Macao Pass", "Macao Pass Wallet", "Alipay", "WeChat Pay", "BOC Credit Card E-Wallet" and credit card payment.

This year, the GMBPF will continue to be held concurrently with the "Macao Franchise Expo 2019" with free admission. To encourage the use of public transportation, free shuttle bus to the venue will be provided. Free parking zones in Halls D and E at the Venetian Macao will also be offered on a first-come-first-served basis due to limited availability.
