The 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum specially offered the Macao and Mainland Enterprise Networking Reception for enterprises from Macao and the mainland, with a view to foster co-operation and exchange between companies from both places. Participating enterprises positively remarked on the efficacy of the event, which helped them discern business opportunities and grow businesses.

Macao representatives mainly came from 13 entities, including government departments and those in commercial sector, returned overseas Chinese community, financial industry and construction sector. There were over 70 attendees at the reception. According to Mr Zhang, representative of a construction company on the mainland, the networking reception has enabled him to meet with different enterprises, relevant organisations and associations from Macao. He adds that his companies has been participating in the IIICF exhibition for many years, including this year, which allows his company to demonstrate to attendees from all around the world their capability and how Chinese key enterprises “go global”.

Mr Chan, representative of a Macao construction and building materials company, the networking reception has provided an occasion for enterprises from Macao and the mainland look for partners “face to face”, which greatly increase the success rate of business expansion through co-operation. According to him, many state-owned enterprises and large corporations are among the attendees of IIICF, and his company is planning to tap into African markets and looking partners to bring relevant technologies to Africa. At the 10th IIICF, Mr Chan entered into co-operation agreement with Mozambique and has been invited to be the first representative in Macao. He believes that it will be motivating to the commercial collaboration between China and Mozambique as it will facilitate the implementation of co-operation projects, information sharing and bilateral exchange. It is also bringing the influence of Macao’s role as China-Portuguese-speaking countries platform into reality. Mr Julião Dimande, President of the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce, says that he aims to stablise the collaboration partnership with Macao via the representative to Macao. In particular, he hopes to foster China-Mozambique co-operation in agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, energy and service industries, while introducing advanced technologies and experience in African countries via the platform Macao has created.

In addition, the 10th IIICF offers exhibition area and business matching area. Representative of a bathroom hardware company Mr Cui says that it is the second time for his company to exhibit at the IIICF. He is satisfied to meet with plenty of his counterpart in Macao, thanks to the networking reception and a series of business exchange activities and exhibitions. He is also able to meet with exhibitors from Mozambique, Angola and more regions, which is conducive to professional exchange and co-operation with rest of the world. Mr Cui says that his company is looking for a partner to enter Macao market. In the consideration of the result of joining this year’s IIICF, he is planning to join the next IIICF.

According to Mr Wong, who represents an electricity engineering company from Guangzhou, his first participation in the IIICF last year was very rewarding. With the help of Macao’s associations, his company reached preliminary co-operation agreement with Mozambique on building photovoltaic power station. Mr Wong participates in the IIICF once again this year in the pursuit of co-operation with key enterprises and state-owned enterprises of China. He is also gratified by the result of joining the 10th IIICF as he has met with a number of enterprises. Mr Man, representative of the Macao association which helped Mr Wong with reaching co-operation with Mozambique, points out that the IIICF and the activities thereof are embodying Macao’s position as a China-Portuguese-speaking countries platform. He continues, the event also works in line with China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative and the policies of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, allowing enterprises from China and Portuguese-speaking countries to grow businesses and achieve better development.
