[2019/03/19] IPIM Holds Greater Bay Area Information Exchange Session for Macao Youths Helping the Younger generation to seize changes

To work in line with the launch of the “Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, support Macao youths in creating their own businesses in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Acting President of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau invited nearly 60 Macao’s young entrepreneurs who are currently developing businesses or intending to start businesses in the Greater Bay Area, as well as Macao students who are studying or having internship in Guangdong to the “Greater Bay Area Information Exchange Session for Macao Youths”, which was organised by IPIM and co-organised by the Guangdong Market Supervision & Administration Bureau on 18 March.

The attending Macao youths actively shared their experience in starting up businesses in Mainland China at the meeting. They remarked that this exchange session helped them acquire the latest information about starting up businesses in the Greater Bay Area and it had broadened their horizon. Before this exchange session took place, a delegation of Macao young entrepreneurs visited the Guangdong-Macao Youth Entrepreneurship International Industrial Booster at the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre to learn its operation and how its member companies grow. With the aim to inspire Macao’s younger generation to create their own businesses, Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau motivated local youths and young enterprisers to put more effort to grasp the opportunities arising from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by making good use of the country’s policies and measures that are favourable for business startup, and joining the momentum of the Greater Bay Area.

According to Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau, the Macao SAR Government attaches great importance on the development of young entrepreneurs and provides a diverse array of business startup supports and services for the younger generation. In order to pillar the development of Macao youths in the Greater Bay Area, IPIM also strives to facilitate Macao youths’ investment projects in the Greater Bay Area. It was one of her goals that young entrepreneurs could ask all questions and share experience about establishing businesses in the Greater Bay Area. She also advised the attendees to keep strengthening their abilities with perseverance.

Deputy Inspector of the Guangdong Market Supervision & Administration Bureau Mr Zhang Zhiguang introduced the attending youths to the services provided by his Bureau and encouraged Macao youths to create their own businesses in the Greater Bay Area. Deputy Director of the Guangdong Market Supervision & Administration Bureau Liao Junjun also explained to Macao’s young enterprisers about company establishment and licensing procedures for Macao citizens to set up companies in the Greater Bay Area, as well as the facilitation services for commercial registration in GBA cities. In addition, the director of IPIM’s Representative Office in Guangzhou introduced the attendees to the services provided by the Representative Office.

Lastly, some of the young enterprisers who had developed businesses in the Greater Bay Area shared their experience at the event. According Mr Chao, whose businesses has survived and thrived for more than 10 years in Mainland China, good business partners are necessary in business start-up especially when dealing with a competitive business environment. Mr Chan, who engages in AI image recognition industry, said that manpower (in his industry) was in bigger quantity in Mainland China and he hoped to push forward the development of this industry in Macao. Mr Cheang, an enterpriser that imported innovative industry from the Greater Bay Area to Macao, shared the story of how he localised the intelligent logistics locker services in Macao. The attending students were confident in the development of the Greater Bay Area. They also endeavoured to collect more commercial and practical information about creating businesses in the Greater Bay Area.
