[2021/12/10] The 26th MIF, 2021MFE and 2021PLPEX Kick Off Today, Expand Business Opportunities with Online and Offline Matching Platforms and Facilitate Coordinated Development of Industries

The opening ceremony of the “26th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (26th MIF), the “Macao Franchise Expo 2021” (2021MFE) and the “2021 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao)” (2021PLPEX) was held at Expo Hall B (Macao Pavilion) of The Venetian Macao at 12:00 pm today (10 Dec). This year’s three exhibitions are once again held concurrently at the same venue, combining the advantages of both online and offline platforms of the three exhibitions to help traders from all over the world to seize business opportunities through the MICE co-operation and exchange platform.

Officiating guests of the opening ceremony included Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Government Ho Iat Seng, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Zhang Rongshun, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR Liu Xianfa, Municipal Standing Committee of Jiangsu and Provincial General Director of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee Hui Jianlin, Standing Committee of the National Committee of the CPPCC Ngapo Jinyuan, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government Lei Wai Nong, and President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Lau Wai Meng. Online and offline linkages help exhibitors explore business opportunities

The 26th MIF, 2021MFE and 2021PLPEX are held for three consecutive days from 10 to 12 December. The total exhibition area this year reaches 28,250 square metres, up by 13% year-on-year. There are over 1,710 booths in total, marking an increase of 39.8% over the previous edition. There are more than 920 on-site exhibitors and over 1,100 online exhibitors. Online and offline exhibitors participating in the three exhibitions are from Mainland China, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Hong Kong, Macao and so on.

“Exhibitions within exhibitions” feature elements of science and technology and TCM

The 26th MIF features the “CHEXPO MACAO 2021” and “Science and Technology Week 2021 and Exhibition of Achievements in Science and Technology Innovation” in the form of “exhibitions within exhibitions”. The exhibition areas for technological innovation and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are 10 and 12 times larger than last year respectively, attracting over 145 scientific and technological innovation enterprises and 100 TCM enterprises. The exhibitions showcase scientific research results, and TCM products and services, building a platform for cross-border co-operation, promoting the professionalisation of the MICE industry and strengthening industry linkages.

“One-stop” Business Support Centre provides consultation platform

In addition to the Franchise Pavilion, Gourmet Avenue and IP Authorisation Pavilion, the 2021MFE will also include the “One-stop” Business Support Centre and “Brand Incubation Pavilion”, where professionals will provide advice on branding and design, legal matters and other services to assist local potential brands or franchises in upgrading their brand presence through different channels and encourage the enterprises to transform and upgrade, so as to expand their business in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

“Remote exhibiting” service helps PSCs’ traders to create business opportunities regardless of geographical boundaries

In line with the new business forms, the 2021PLPEX offers a “remote exhibiting” service to allow enterprises and exhibitors from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) that cannot attend the exhibition in person to showcase their products through the Organiser. In this way, purchasers visiting the on-site exhibition can try the products from PSCs, thus increasing the transaction success rate and further demonstrating the unique charm and advantages of Macao as a platform between China and PSCs.

A variety of vibrant business and trade activities for three consecutive days

The online and offline exhibitions are rich and diverse in content, offering online matching, online contract signing, online exhibitions, live-streaming photos of the events, on-site influencers’ visits, VR360 experience for the exhibitions and more.

Protocol signing ceremonies and a number of interactive exchange activities were held on the first day of the exhibitions, including the “International Trade and Investment Forum 2021”, “Fujian – Macao – Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and Trade Meeting”, “Connectivity and In-Depth Co-operation between Zhuhai and Macao – Zhuhai Industrial Development Promotion Seminar”, “Roundtable Conference on Jiangsu-Macao Economic and Trade Co-operation”, “International Gemstone and Diamond Trade Summit”, and the opening ceremony of “Macao Fashion Festival 2021”.

The awards ceremony of the “Global Wine.Shanghai Wine List – Wine List of Portuguese-speaking Countries” in 2021 will be held on-site. 20 participating wines from Portuguese-speaking countries presented by Macao agents in the 2021PLPEX have won the titles of “Excellent Brand of the Year”, “Quality Brand of the Year”, and “Featured Brand of the Year”, providing a reference guide for professional purchasers/distributors to purchase wine from Portuguese-speaking countries.

Participating traders boost consumption in local community

In addition, the Organiser took the lead in organising participating traders to experience local culture, and explore Macao featured activities and world heritage sites in the community of Macao yesterday (9 Dec). Another guided tour will be conducted on 12 December to make a continuous effort in driving the community economy and promoting the unique cultural image of Macao through MICE.

More events will be held tomorrow (11 Dec), such as the “18th World Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs”, “2021 Macao Forum on the Development of Chinese Medical Industry”, “2021 Macao Innovation and Technology Forum”, “3rd Shenzhen-Macao Trade and Investment Co-operation Exchange Conference”, “The 1st Shenzhen-Macao Exhibition Industry Exchange Promotion Conference”, “Facilitate the Development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone, Promote the Development of Modern Financial Industry” and so on.

The public is encouraged to make good use of online registration

The three exhibitions are open to trade visitors today and will be open to the public tomorrow (11 Dec) and the day after (12 Dec). During the exhibitions, relevant entities and participants will strictly follow the epidemic prevention guidelines issued by the Health Bureau, and co-operate fully with the epidemic prevention work. Moreover, members of the public can register online in advance (https://www.miceregsystem.com/register?id=53) to arrange their schedule so as to encourage staggered entry, while those who have not yet made pre-registration will be admitted in an orderly manner according to the actual situation on site.
