[2019/10/17] The 24th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair and the 2019 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) Help Companies to Reach Co-operation on the First Day

The 24th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (24th MIF) and the 2019 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2019PLPEX) arranged 195 sessions at the business matching area on the first day, pushing through the signing of 44 projects. Some signatories said that various channels of the fairs enabled them to achieved good results on the first day.

On the first day, 195 negotiation sessions were conducted at the business matching area. with traders from Portuguese-speaking countries such as Cabo Verde, Brazil, Mozambique and Portugal; among the 74 negotiations which involved Portuguese-speaking countries, 69 negotiations were held between enterprises from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking countries. On the first day, 44 contracts were signed by signatories from Mainland China, Sweden, Malaysia, Canada, Portugal, Hong Kong, Macao, among others, covering inter-governmental co-operation, tourism co-operation project, cultural and creative industries co-operation, education co-operation memorandum of understanding, service provision agreements, agricultural technology co-operation, product development co-operation, product distribution, etc.

According to Casa Angola Internacional, a company from a Portuguese-speaking country, it signed a co-operation agreement through the fairs and successfully introduced the company’s products to the markets in Mainland China and Macao and deepened the relations between Chinese and Portuguese partners. As the signing has strengthened the company’s ability to co-operate in import and export trade, the staff are confident that they can continuously promote the local products of Portugal in the future.

Mr Guan, a signatory from Mainland China, expressed his hope to promote his brand through the fairs and make his brand and products “Made in Foshan” well known. He also hoped to bring his brand to Macao. He said that it is a wise choice to hold the two fairs concurrently. It provides an opportunity for more Portuguese-speaking countries to learn about Chinese companies, which can not only open up the markets in Portuguese-speaking countries, but also publicise “Made in China” products.

Mr Chan from a local company said that he expected to popularise the use of high-quality building materials from the Mainland for the construction industry in Macao and open up the markets in Portuguese-speaking countries and Africa with the assistance of the Macao platform. It was the first time for his company to participate in the fairs, he added, and it already proved to be a fruitful experience on the first day, for his company had meetings with companies from Brazil, Angola and Portugal for businesses.

Tomorrow (18 October), the 16th World Summit of Chinese Entrepreneurs, the 5th Young Entrepreneurs Forum of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the 2019 China International Financial Leasing Industry Forum, the Greater Bay Area Technology Corridor and Macao Featured Finance Forum and the PSC Fashion Show will be held.

Macao Industrial Modernization Matching Session

The Macao Industrial Modernization Matching Session, which debuts this year, aims to enhance the international competitiveness of Macao’s industry. An enterprise partaking in the matching session remarked that it came to know international certification and that it would strive to achieve ISO 9001 certification and M-Mark Macau Product Quality Certification, in order to improve its modernisation management and competitiveness. Meanwhile, free professional networking and business matching services are provided during the MIF and PLPEX. Exhibitors and purchasers can enjoy these services the “Online Business Matching Service Platform” (http://bm.ipim.gov.mo/). In addition, traders can register a Macao MICE PASS on the website (https://mice.ipim.gov.mo) to have unlimited access to four major fairs in Macao, namely the MIF, the PLPEX, the Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF) and the Macao Franchise Expo (MFE).

The two fairs will be open to the general public on 18 and 19 October. Free shuttle buses traveling  between the exhibition venue and the stops at Rua do Mercado de lao Hon (opposite to Jardim de Iao Hon and near the Isquare Computer Plaza), Rua do Dr. Pedro José Lobo (near the Macau Square), Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida (near Pak Wai Bus Stop) and Rua de Seng Tou (near Urbanização Jardim Nova Taipai Block 21) will be available to support green travel. The shuttle buses departing every 15 to 30 minutes from the stops are available from 9:30 to 18:30, and those departing from the venue are available from 11:00 to 20:30. Free parking is available at Hall D of The Venetian Macao on a “first-come, first-served” basis due to limited availability.
