[2026/10/23] Three Concurrent Exhibitions Conclude on 24 October; Ten Themed Sessions Facilitate Over 700 Business Matches and Support Enterprises in Expanding Overseas

Publication Date: 2026/10/23

Serving as an international trade and business co-operation platform, the 31st Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (31st MIF), the 2026 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2026PLPEX), and the Macao Franchise Expo 2026 (2026MFE) have hosted a total of ten themed business matching sessions during the exhibition period, facilitating more than 700 business matching meetings.

The ten themed sessions cover Spanish-speaking countries’ speciality products, the global expansion of the Big Health industry, technology and innovation projects, food and beverages, agricultural industry chains, cross-border e-commerce, products from Portuguese-speaking countries, the coffee industry, first-store and brand investment, and IP licensing. More than 700 business representatives from the Chinese mainland, Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries, Southeast Asia, Europe, Hong Kong and Macao have taken part, representing listed companies, industry-leading enterprises, prominent brands, and business and trade associations. The sessions have provided a platform for targeted and efficient business matching.

A first-time exhibitor from a Spanish-speaking country said that it had exceeded its participation targets. In addition to establishing supply connections with Macao hotels and food distributors for meat and ham products, the company also explored opportunities to export to markets in Southeast Asia and South China through its participation in the exhibition. An exhibitor from the Chinese mainland secured a six-figure wellness tourism co-operation project through business matching and acknowledged Macao’s MICE platform as an effective bridge for trade and business co-operation. Meanwhile, a medical enterprise from a Portuguese-speaking country partnered with a Hong Kong enterprise to launch training courses on traditional Chinese medicine therapies, while also establishing connections with several local traditional Chinese medicine enterprises in Macao, leveraging Macao’s platform for co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries to advance its business development.

“Exhibition + inspection + business matching” model creates pathways for project implementation

To further extend the impact of the three exhibitions and accelerate the implementation of promising projects, the organisers have adopted an “exhibition + inspection + business matching” model in support of the development of ‘Macao + Hengqin’ and the first-store economy. A total of ten inspection visits have been arranged during the exhibition period, five of which were completed during the first three days.

A number of “Multi-venue Events” have been organised, with business representatives from the Chinese mainland, Portuguese-speaking countries, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macao visiting the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin and a number of major attractions in Macao. The visits provide first-hand insights into the business environment, policy incentives and industry opportunities relating to traditional Chinese medicine, technology and innovation, cross-border e-commerce, modern logistics, youth entrepreneurship and key commercial districts. Some itineraries have also extended to Shenzhen and other key cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, helping overseas exhibitors build broader business networks. A business visitor from a Portuguese-speaking country noted that the co-ordinated development of Macao and Hengqin has created greater room for business co-operation. The visitor intends to adopt a dual-track model of establishing a presence in Macao while expanding through Hengqin as a new pathway into the Chinese market.

At the same time, to support brands in establishing a presence in Macao and promote community revitalisation, the organisers have arranged on-site visits for exhibitors and trade visitors in line with first-store economy and district revitalisation policies. The visits cover areas including Fai Chi Kei, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Rua das Estalagens, Rua da Felicidade and Rua do Cunha, enabling brands to assess first-hand the potential and development prospects for opening their first Macao stores in the city’s key commercial districts. A tea beverage chain from the Chinese mainland noted that the Macao Government’s “Scheme for Supporting the Development of Macao First-Store Economy” has enhanced the attractiveness of the city’s business environment, and considers opening its first store in Macao an ideal springboard for the brand’s overseas expansion into markets such as Southeast Asia, Australia and Spain.
