| | | IPIM Helps Mainland Manufacturer Implement a MOP 200-Million Project in Macao A Series of Investment Promotion to Boost Macao’s Economy The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) continues to attract investment pro-actively despite the impact of pandemic. The Investor’s “One-stop” Service is currently assisting a Mainland investor in setting up the Kaijie Beverage Factory (Macao) in the city. As of now, a manufacturing factory covering an area of over 76,000 square feet has been built. The aim of the project is to produce “Macao Brand” and “Made in Macao” bottled tea beverages from seeds to products. It is estimated that over MOP 200 million will be invested in this project, creating around 50 jobs for the city. The production is estimated to start in the fourth quarter of this year. According to the project manager, IPIM’s coordination has enabled an effective and smooth implementation of the project, which boosted the company’s confidence in entering the Mainland and Southeast Asia with their projects. |

| | | The Rising Issue of “Environmental, Social and Governance” and its enlightenment for Macao’s development Since 2006, the United Nations proposed the “Environment, Social and Governance” (ESG) topic as an investment compliance framework for global investors. Until recent years, places around the world have successively announced carbon neutrality targets, and the outbreak of COVID-19 has raised the society’s concern on sustainable investment, which led to the further rise of ESG issues. This article tries to understand the connotation and definition of ESG by international organisations such as the United Nations, World Bank, as well as the corporate ESG evaluation systems of various international rating agencies; explore the actual benefits that ESG brings to enterprises and the overall economy; and compare the development process and policies of ESG around the world, to try to look into the insights that ESG brings to Macao, especially in terms of attracting investment. | |

| | | Pastelaria Chui Heong: Macao’s Most Tasty Charcoal Grilled Almond Cookies As Shakespeare said, “good wine needs no bush”. The same goes for delicious, aromatic baked goods. In the Chinese language, the name “Chui Heong” indicates “the most aromatic”. Even though the shop is quite hidden in Rua do Gamboa, since 2008, when they moved from their original shop in Rua do Barão which opened in 1958, Pastelaria Chui Heong still wins over many foodies, who want to take home the exclusive traditional taste. The secret of their success is its traditional hand-made almond cookies grilled over charcoal. As one of the many exhibitors in Macao Ideas, an exhibition centre established by IPIM, Pastelaria Chui Heong hopes to actively participate in the MICE events organised by IPIM in the future, continuing to promote "Macao Brand" through the online and offline promotion channels of Macao Ideas. |

| | | Long Tin, Macao Cured Meat Expert Highly Acclaimed Throughout Guangdong Roast and cured meats are an indispensable ingredient in the menu of every authentic Cantonese restaurant. A cured meat producer from Macao has enjoyed a wide reputation throughout Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, where it is acclaimed as “an expert of cured meat”, and its meat products are highly popular among all types of customers. Long Tin has always participated in MICE events organised by IPIM, as Alan Mok, who is the company’s second-generation heir, believes that these events will help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to expand their markets. In 2020, as recommended by IPIM’s Macao Ideas, Long Tin livestreamed its products during the three expos* and subsequently received enquiries about product details from many Mainland buyers, which has given the company a strong impression of the power of new media in the Mainland. “Online marketing has become the mainstream nowadays, but SMEs may not have a good understanding of the new marketing channels in the Mainland. We hope that in the future, with IPIM’s assistance, we can further develop our e-commerce business and better integrate into the Greater Bay Area market”. *Note: The three concurrent expos: the 25th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF), Macao Franchise Expo 2020 (2020 MFE) and 2020 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (2020 PLPEX). |
