The 2021 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair (2021GMBPF), jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, concluded successfully on Sunday (28 November). This year\u2019s GMBPF was rich in content and bustling with excitement, attracting nearly 400 enterprises. More than 90 online and offline business meetings were arranged, with 21 projects signed. There were more than one million live views and replay views in the three days.<\/p>\n

Displaying the charm of exhibits at the GMBPF through online and offline elements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2021GMBPF covered an area of 9,000 square metres, with 351 enterprises setting up nearly 400 booths, including 174 enterprises in the Macao exhibition area, 150 enterprises in the Guangdong exhibition area, and 27 enterprises in \u201cThe Belt and Road\u201d Exhibition Zone and other exhibition areas.<\/p>\n

The online exhibition launched this year received a tremendous response from exhibitors, presenting nearly 1,000 exhibits. The online exhibition and the GMBPF website recorded nearly 100,000 views. During the Fair, hosts and influencers, 24 from mainland China and seven from Macao, were invited to broadcast live and conduct interviews for 30 hours, attracting more than 140 exhibitors.<\/p>\n

Some exhibitors pointed out that sales were good and that the combination of online and offline exhibitions is more conducive to market expansion. Members of the public also spoke highly of relevant arrangements, regarding the GMBPF as an ideal place to purchase all kinds of excellent products from Guangdong and Macao.<\/p>\n

Strengthening the B2B element to help enterprises reach target buyers<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to continuously improve its business service, the 2021GMBPF further strengthened the business matching element, adding the online business matching session, physical business matching sessions and guided tours, promotion seminars on the investment environment, and so on. Over 90 online and offline business meetings were arranged, covering catering, smart life, household items, office supplies, e-commerce, Portuguese-speaking countries\u2019 products, and more.<\/p>\n

The online business matching session started before the 2021GMBPF. On the whole, participating traders expressed appreciation of this convenient and time-saving arrangement, which gave them more time to communicate with each other before the Fair.<\/p>\n

During the 2021GMBPF, 18 forums, business matching sessions and promotion seminars were held for three consecutive days, and the 2021GMBPF Guided Tour for Guangdong and Macao enterprises took place on the morning of 26 November, attended by about 60 enterprise representatives from Guangdong and Macao engaging in the catering industry, food trade and e-commerce platforms. They communicated with exhibitors from Guangdong, Macao, and regions along the Belt and Road. Participating representatives were convinced that relevant arrangements will deepen their knowledge of Guangdong and Macao brands and expand business opportunities.<\/p>\n

A well-known e-commerce platform in mainland China launched a free product listing and concessional promotion programme at the 2021GMBPF, helping local SMEs develop business in mainland China and promote their brand image through the e-commerce platform. During the Fair, more than 30 exhibitors inquired about the programme.<\/p>\n

Leveraging the Co-operation Platform between China and PSCs and introducing products from <\/strong>PSCs<\/strong><\/p>\n

To further leverage Macao\u2019s role as a Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the IPIM co-organised the \u201cPromotion Seminar of Products from Portuguese-speaking Countries\u201d with the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), while gathering special products from Portuguese-speaking countries. Representatives of Portuguese-speaking countries were stationed at the venue to introduce the local investment environment and promote local services and products to traders from Guangdong, in an effort to enhance economic and trade cooperation between mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries. In addition, online and physical business matching sessions for Portuguese-speaking countries were also offered. Participating traders agreed that these sessions can help connect the markets of China and Portuguese-speaking countries.<\/p>\n

Driving community economies with guided tours to local neighbourhoods<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2021GMBPF continued to invite traders to local neighbourhoods and concurrent activities to consume and taste the food there, so as to maximise the efficiency of the event, spur community economies, and promote the image of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Participants were generally satisfied with the guided tours to local neighbourhoods, as they can better experience Macao\u2019s delicacies and traditional culture through such tours. They believe that Macao is a safe and friendly tourist city.<\/p>\n
