Beijing-Macao Week Held in Beijing

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the inscription of the Historic Centre of Macao on the World Heritage List as well as the reinstatement of travel permit issuance for Mainland residents to Macao, the Macao SAR Government held the Beijing-Macao Week in Beijing from 26 to 29 September.

Multiple themed exhibition zones were set up to introduce the latest information and features of Macao’s tourism, trade, culture, cuisine and other elements to local citizens and travellers on Wangfujing Street. These themed roadshows showcased “Macao’s International Events, Cultural Tourism”, “World Heritage in Macao, Intangible Cultural Heritage Area”, “International Sport Events”, the “MinM Made in Macao and Macao Brands Exhibition Zone” and the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Products Exhibition Zone” as well as the “Macao Tourism Exhibition”, in which six major resorts from Macao participated. The event also showed “Air Macau”, “Macau Fisherman’s Wharf” and the “Macao Shopping Festival”.

During the Beijing-Macao Week, IPIM set up the “MinM Made in Macao and Macao Brands Exhibition Zone” and the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Products Exhibition Zone” to introduce made-in-Macao products and Macao brands, as well as quality products from Portuguese-speaking Countries. The Industrial Association of Macau and the Macau Importers and Exporters Association organised 22 Macao companies to provide exhibits for the event in Macao. The products included pastry, noodles, coffee, beer, white wine, preserved fruit, sauce, vegetable syrup, wine, brandy, natural essential oil, aromatherapy products and coffee beans. Some of the products were available for sale through online sales platform.

The “Beijing-Macao Tourism, Convention and Exhibition Promotion Session” was held concurrently. Mr Benson Lau Wai Meng, President of IPIM delivered a speech at the event, where IPIM’s personal introduced the latest development of Macao’s convention and exhibition industry, enhanced communication between practitioners from both places, and explored the possibilities of tourism and MICE development in Beijing and Macao after the epidemic is in complete control.

The organisers of the Beijing-Macao Week are the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Dongcheng District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. The coordinators are the Macao Government Tourism Office, IPIM, the Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region in Beijing and Administrative Committee of Wangfujing of Dongcheng District of Beijing Municipality.
