Macao Entrepreneur Delegation Joined Business Visits and Exchanges in Zhaoqing and Yunfu, Guangdong

IPIM and Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province worked together and organised a delegation of 35 Macao entrepreneurs to join a trip for business visits and exchanges in Zhaoqing and Yunfu, Guangdong from 3 to 5 December 2019. The delegation aimed to explore the business environment and development opportunities in the cities surrounding the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and also to promote Macao as the “Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, as well as the advantages of emerging industries in Macao to jointly explore business opportunities.

During the stay in Zhaoqing, Ms Zhang Ping, Director of Investment Promotion Division of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province accompanied the delegation to Zhaoqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee and held a forum with some of the enterprises in the zone to share the current status and prospects of high-tech development in Zhaoqing. The delegation also visited the Zhaoqing New District East Railway Station Transportation Hub Project and inspected the research and development enterprises of electric vehicle of the region, so as to understand how the local high and innovative technologies and manufacturing industries are organically intertwined and developing. In addition, Mr Zhong Weijun, Director of Zhaoqing New District Management Committee greeted and welcomed the entrepreneur delegation, and encouraged the delegates and Macao enterprises to invest in Zhaoqing.

During the stay in Yunfu, Yunfu Municipal Commerce Bureau introduced the investment environment of Yunfu to the delegation. The delegation visited “Hydrogen Town” Technology Park to see the measures that Yunfu has taken to promote industrial development and upgrade. They also visited local healthy food and pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as livestock and food processing enterprises. Later on, Mr Shi Donghong, Vice Mayor of Yunfu met the delegation and fully affirmed that this inspection trip effectively stimulated the economic and trade co-operation between the two sides.

In order to extend the effectiveness of this inspection trip, IPIM held a “Macao-Yunfu Entrepreneurs Business Matching Session”. Around 70 representatives from the manufacturing, wholesale and retail, trade, catering, e-commerce, logistics, and information technology enterprise
