The Grand Opening of the 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) in Macao

The 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) was held from 30 to 31 May. The two-day event offered a total of 12 keynote forum, penal sessions and parallel forums, which were joined by more than 2,000 participants from over 70 countries and regions, including more than 56 government officials at or above vice-ministerial level from nearly 40 countries and regions. The number of attendees grew by 10% compared to last year. At the protocol signing ceremony, a total of 11 co-operation agreements were signed by China and different parties, mainly involving transportation, house building, electricity engineering and mining.

As said by the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Chui Sai On at the Opening Ceremony, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the IIICF. Since the inception of the IIICF in 2010, with the Central Government’s support and the joint effort of all different sectors, the event has built an effective global co-operation platform. This year’s IIICF synergises itself with the measures proposed by the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, with a view to improving the high-quality infrastructure connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and crafting the GBA into a cornerstone of the “Belt and Road” development.

This year’s IIICF was collaboratively organised by the China International Contractors Association and IPIM. On the first day of event, the launch ceremony of the IIICF Steering Committee and the Mainland China-Macao Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council was staged. The Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index (2019) and the Annual Report on the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index (2019) were also released. In addition, the Macao and Mainland Enterprise Networking Reception was organised to enhance co-operation and communication between Macao’s and Mainland’s enterprises.

The 11th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will be held in Macao from 4 to 5 June 2020.
