Macao Enterpriser Delegation Join the Expo Central China 2019 in Jiangxi

Macao enterprisers delegation at the Macao Pavilion

The Expo Central China 2019 was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi from 18 to 20 May. IPIM set up the Macao Pavilion in a bid to promote Macao’s latest investment environment, the city’s participation in the country’s development tactics, China-Portuguese-speaking Countries platform and MICE events stage in Macao. More than 30 Macao enterprisers were organised to join the Expo Central China 2019 in Jiangxi.

At the opening ceremony, Vice-premier of the Stage Council Hu Chunhua, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan, governors of six provinces in Central China respectively delivered keynotes on “High-level Opening-up, High-quality Development – New Policy • Emerging Industries • Rising Opportunities”. On the same day’s afternoon, IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Jiangxi Province collaboratively organised the “Macao-Jiangxi Investment Co-operation Forum – Introduction to the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, where Acting President of IPIM Irene Va Kuan Lau gave an address. Other speakers included Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Jiangxi Province Fang Xiangjun, Director of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund Song Yunsong, representative of the Macau Lawyers Association Kuong Iok Kao. A Jiangxi enterprise engaging in energy business also shared their experience in making investment in Portuguese-speaking Countries. The Forum attracted over 100 representatives of Jiangxi and Macao companies. Its business meetings were also actively joined by Macao and Jiangxi companies engaging in finance, architecture, dining and trade, and other professions. In addition, the Forum offers live stream consultation regarding Macao’s investment environment to give answers to Jiangxi companies’ enquiries regarding.

On 17 May, Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen received the Macao delegation led by Acting President of IPIM Irene Va Kuan Lau and Hong Kong delegation led by the Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Jonathan Choi Koon-Shum. At the meeting, discussion was held on the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China-PSC Platform and CEPA.
