The Spring Banquet of Guangdong Province 2019 is held in Macao

On the night of 26 March, the Spring Banquet of Guangdong Province 2019 (Macao) was held at the Crowne Plaza Macau. The guests included Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Edmund Ho Hau Wah, CPC Guangdong Provincial Standing Committee Ye Zhengqin, and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government Tam Chon Weng.

In his speech, Mr Ye Zhengqin forwarded the greetings and blessings to Macao residents from the Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Li Xi and the Governor of Guangdong Province Ma Xingrui, and expressed welcome to the attending guests including CPC provincial committee and provincial governments. He said that Macao, as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, also a bridge for China-Portuguese-speaking Countries collaboration, has not only been supporting the socio-economic development of Guangdong, but also bringing in experience in regard to market regulation, scientific research, innovation, urban building and management, from which Guangdong may learn in order to enhance its reform and opening-up. At the same time, Guangdong has also become the main foundation for Macao to integrate its strengths with the country’s momentum for faster and better regional growth. The construction of the Greater Bay Area is a significant strategy of China planned, implemented and promoted by President Xi Jinping. Guangdong will follow the instructions given by President Xi and the requirements of the Communist Party and the State Council, so as to carry out the construction of the Greater Bay Area. With the GBA as a golden opportunity for enhancing Guangdong’s reform and opening-up, Guangdong will continue joining hands with Macao to grasp the opportunities and create a prosperous future and a vibrant, internationally competitive bay area.

As pointed out by Mr Tam Chon Weng, Guangdong-Macao co-operation is of the utmost importance in regard to the deepening of Macao’s collaboration with the Mainland and participation in the country’s growth. Along with the release of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the continuously effective implementation of the Framework Agreement on Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao, Guangdong and Macao have been deepening the exchange and co-operation in various domains, tightening their bonds and generating more and more fruits. Macao will work closely with Guangdong province for common development with visible outcome, devoted to the reform and opening up in the new era, collaboratively construct the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and become a pillar of the country’s economic development and opening-up to the international world.
