“The Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2018” Yields Fruitful Results

Jointly organised by the IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2018 (2018 GMBPF) was held at The Venetian Macao from 27 to 29 July. During the three-day event, the number of visitors was pretty much the same as last year. At the Opening Ceremony, a total of 5 memoranda of understanding and agreements on co-operation were signed.

IPIM respectively signed the “Economic and Trade Cooperation Memorandum on Huizhou and Macao Jointly Participating in the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area’” with Bureau of Commerce of Huizhou Municipality; the “Economic and Trade Cooperation Memorandum on Dongguan and Macao Jointly Participating in the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area’” with Bureau of Commerce of Dongguan City; the “Economic and Trade Cooperation Memorandum on Jointly Participating in the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area’” with Jiangmen Bureau of Commerce; and the “Economic and Trade Cooperation Memorandum on Jointly Participating in the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area’” with Bureau of Commerce of Zhaoqing City. In addition, the Investment Promotion Bureau of Congjiang County signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement” with China Products Company.

This year, GMBPF took up an area of 9,000 square metres with 382 booths, featuring an array of exhibition areas including the “Guangdong Province Branded Products Exhibition & Sales Area”, “Macao Featured Products Area”, “Belt and Road Exhibition Area”, “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Exhibition Area”, “Guangdong-Macao Young Entrepreneur Exhibition Area” and an exhibition area for Congjiang county of Guizhou, Meanwhile, events such as the “Roundtable Conference of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Commercial Organisations”, “Macao-Congjiang Co-operation on Trade and Economics Series-Marketing Strategies for Branding and Exhibitions”, “Sharing Session on Young Entrepreneurship” and product promotional sessions were also held to help enterprises seize business opportunities and expand their markets.

This year happens to be the 10th anniversary of the GMBPF. The themed exhibition area featured the “Maritime Silk Road” and elements of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to craft the Guangdong-Macao 10th Anniversary Pier. In addition, VR technology was employed for the first time in the GMBPF to produce an online VR catalogue, enabling the public to access a variety of innovative products before the exhibition.

The 2018GMBPF and the 2018MFE were once again held concurrently. Meanwhile, the organisers arranged guided tours for exhibitors to venture in local neighbourhoods to extend the reach of the event to outside the venue, so as to boost community economies and benefit local SMEs.

Although the three-day 2018 GMBPF ended, our online platform is open all year round. The “Macao Franchise Expo 2019” and the “Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2019” will be held from 26 to 28 July, 2019.
