Frank Dialogue between IPIM President Jackson Chang and the youth

The Frank Dialogue on “My Impression of Portuguese-speaking Countries” between IPIM President Jackson Chang and some 20 high school students took place on 30 May.

During the event, President Jackson Chang introduced the students to the latest economic and trade information of 8 Portuguese-speaking Countries (PSCs) and Macao, the background and the advantages of Macao’s strategic position as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and PSCs, as well as the “Three Centres” (namely a commercial and trade service centre for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) between China and PSCs, a food product distribution centre for PSCs, and a centre for conventions and exhibitions for economic and trade co-operation between China and PSCs) that serve as the extension of such platform and the development of them. President Chang hoped that the event could bring the younger generation a broad vision of Macao’s development as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and PSCs. He also motivated the students to play their parts in the development of the China-PSCs platform with their fortes, just like how Macao joins the national momentum with its own specialties.

Among the some 20 participating high school students, a majority of them are learning Portuguese language, some of them are about to leave for Portugal and study there. During the event, a spirited discussion between President Chang and the youngsters on expectation and opinion about the China-PSCs platform took place. The participating students also had a tour at the Portuguese-speaking Countries Food Products Exhibition Centre and gained deeper understanding of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao’s platform position.
