The Business Opportunities in PSCs Series – Briefing Session on New Investment Law in East Timor, co-organised by IPIM, TradeInvest of East Timor and the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), was held on 23 March. The event attracted more than 50 representatives from trade and economic organisations, entrepreneurs and investors engaging in construction, legal, retail, trade in food and coffee, as well as agents of construction materials.
IPIM’s Executive Director Gloria Ung gave a speech at the event. The Executive Director of TradeInvest Timor-Leste Arcanjo da Silva and the Legal Advisor of TradeInvest Timor-Leste Duarte Carneiro were invited to brief the participants on the investment environment, new private investment law, investment and taxation incentives and familiarised participants with the investment legislations and related procedures, as well as the economy and business opportunities in East Timor. A Q&A session was also conducted to encourage networking between the speakers and participating enterprises, as well as providing professional information to enterprises interested in exploring the market. The event played an active role in the prosperous development of the trade and economic activities between Macao SMEs and PSCs markets.
