MI67-P4

Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, visited Macao for three days from 8 May 2017. During his stay in the city, Mr Zhang said the aim of his visit was to hear the Macao SAR Government’s work report and express the Central Government’s support for the city’s economic and social development. Mr Zhang’s visit included a visit to the Legislative Assembly, the Court of Final Appeal and meetings with other local officials, all in a bid to better understand the progress of Macao’s development. During a meeting with local representatives of different sectors, Mr Zhang gave three pieces of advice. He said that Macao should learn from past experiences, forge a solid foundation and foster further progress. Mr Zhang said he hoped Macao could fully utilise its positioning according to the needs of the country and Macao’s strengths to promote the city’s growth while contributing to the national development.
