The Vocational Technical Institute of Finance of the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), will be inaugurated in September in the Angolan city of Lubango, the official responsible for the training establishment said on Wednesday in the city.

The President of the Business Confederation of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Huíla, Francisco Chocolate, told the Angop news agency that the establishment will be transformed in multipurpose higher education institute after its inauguration.

The works, which started in 2016, ended two years ago and the project comprises two buildings with three and two floors, with a capacity of 2,000 students, 60 dormitories to accommodate students and teachers from African countries with Portuguese as an official language.

Chocolate noted that the institute will start operating on the same date that Angola takes on the presidency of the CPLP, which also coincides with the holding of the summit of heads of state of this community.

The multipurpose institute, whose construction cost US$24.9 million, will teach courses in Finance, Accounting, Hospitality and Tourism, unlike its previous purpose of focusing only on economic and financial management training.
