[2020-03-04] Kenmare Resources produces heavy mineral concentrate in Mozambique

Kenmare Resources has produced the first heavy mineral concentrate at Wet Concentrator Plant C (WPC C), said the company that explores heavy sands deposits in Moma, Nampula province, northern Mozambique.

The wet concentrator unit is one of the three projects that the board of Kenmare Resources intends to carry out in order to achieve the annual production of 1.2 million tonnes of ilmenite.

The statement from Kenmare, which is listed on the London and Dublin stock exchanges, added that the process to install this processing unit at the Moma mine will be completed within the deadline set and within the budget of US$45 million.

The second of the three projects will open up a third mining front, and the third and last project involves moving the WCP C to an area of high mineral concentration, in Pilivili, which should take place in the third quarter of 2020.

Kenmare Resources is one of the world’s largest producers of minerals extracted from heavy sands, and production at Moma accounts for approximately 7.0% of world production of titanium, which is supplied to customers in more than 15 countries.
