The Agogo field, located in Block 15/06 of the Angolan sea, on Thursday began commercial exploration with an initial production of 10,000 barrels of oil per day, nine months after its discovery, announced the National Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG).

The statement released in Luanda said that the intention for this field in the coming months is to achieve production of 20,000 barrels of oil per day.

ENI Angola has been the operator of the Block 15/06 since 2006, with a stake of 36.84%, and the other partners are Sonangol P&P with 36.84% and SSI Fifteen with 26.32%.

The discoveries made in Block 15/06, in 2006/2011 and 2011/2014, led to two projects called West Hub and East Hub, through the installation of two floating production, storage and offloading units(FPSO), which started production, respectively, in 2014 and in 2017.

The two floating production units develop eight fields through 42 submarine wells and their total production at the end of 2019 exceeded 180 million barrels of oil.

Angola is a key country for the organic growth strategy of Italian group ENI, which has been present in the country since 1980, with a production of approximately 145,000 barrels of oil per day.
