[2020-01-17] Angola begins introduction of Single Stop at borders by March

The process of Coordinated Management of Borders will begin to be implemented in the first quarter of this year, at the border of Santa Clara, announced, in Luanda, the chairman of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation (CNFC) and Minister of Commerce, reported the Angolan press.

Jofre Van-Dúnem Júnior said that the Single Stop will allow for greater interaction and collaboration with neighbouring countries, facilitating the quick handling of processes, as well as the speed of the transit of people and goods at the borders.

“In addition to reducing bureaucratic processes, it will also reduce time, as this is one of the issues that have yet to be resolved,” said the minister, adding that conditions were already in place at the Santa Clara border, both on the Angolan and Namibian side.

As part of the process of Coordinated Management of Borders, to be approved by the National Assembly, the minister and coordinator gave assurances that there was a team working on this, together with the CNFC, which will ensure full implementation of the first phase.

Angola has more than a 100 border areas, of which the CNFC initially selected 15, five of which became a priority for the implementation of coordinated management of borders, including Tchicolondo (Lunda Norte), Santa Clara (Cunene), Andaman (Cabinda), Luau (Moxico) and Maquela do Zombo (Uíge).

The CNFC is made up of representatives of ministerial departments of Trade, Economy and Planning, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Transport, Health, Agriculture and Forestry, Fisheries and the Sea, Industry and the National Bank of Angola.
