[2019-12-31] SMEs in Mozambique join national enterprise certification programme

Mozambique’s National Programme for Enterprise Certification (Pronacer) already has 70 companies registered from a variety of sectors of activity of a total expected in the pilot phase of 200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to the Mozambican Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA).

The aim of Pronacer is to certify SMEs in Mozambique, with a maximum number of 100 workers, so as to ensure their effective participation and sustainable supply chain of goods and services to major projects in Mozambique.

The project comprises four phases, namely the preparation of national companies for certification through training on the importance, necessity and types of certification required by multinationals, selection for the certification process, based on defined criteria, pre-evaluation of what steps to implement internally for specific certification and certification funded by eligible companies, to 50% of its total value.

Interested companies cannot have tax or social security debts and to benefit from the scheme must prove financial ability to pay half of the total cost of the certification process, through a bank guarantee or similar.

Pronacer was launched in September 2019 by the Foundation for the Improvement of the Business Environment (FAN) and the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA).

The enrolment period ends on 18 January 2020 and the scheme plans to certify 200 companies from various sectors, with a focus on the coal industry, oil and natural gas.
